Kronodoc signs contract with ABB for global roll-out of next generation Project management & Document Control Tool29.05.2008 Kronodoc Oy has signed a global contract with ABB Ltd. The contract includes Kronodoc document & project control products and services delivery to implement the Kronodoc document & project control solution for project business in ABB globally.
The Kronodoc solution is a key component in reducing project quality costs and lead-times as well as in improving delivery accuracy. The Kronodoc document & project control solution is shown to reduce the overhead costs related to document production, transmittal and follow-up in globally distributed partner and customer networks by more than 50%.
"One of the key challenges of today's global project business is the management of on-time document flows from suppliers to the project contractor and from the project contractor to the customer and officials. On-time document flows play a key role. They trigger procurement, manufacturing and billing milestones in networked projects. Hence they represent a key driver for improving delivery accuracy and operational efficiency in project business.", summarizes Rainer Puittinen, Managing Director, Kronodoc Oy.
"We have been improving document control in the project business for several years. Until we came across Kronodoc we have had to build software tools to control document flows in delivery projects. With Kronodoc we can replace our custom solutions with an off-the-shelf product that further ties together architecture and processes, to further substantially cut IT-, process- and QA costs through efficient information management. It allows us to drastically cut down on IT costs. Development, maintenance, deployment and support costs of the document control solutions are reduced drastically. At the same time the business benefits are maximized by controlling key information flows in delivery projects.", says John Haugstad, Implementation Manager, ABB.
The Kronodoc document control solution is integrated to our Enterprise Content Management architecture that is based on EMC Documentum and thereby seamlessly integrates to our corporate IT infrastructure. Kronodoc allows us to provide project business with the document control tools that we need to drive an even more efficient global operation. Documents drive the business.", concludes Jorn Ostbye, Group Vice President, Process Automation Centers of Excellence.¨
